Employer registration to hire Temporary Foreign Workers now open and soon required in BC

Certain employers will soon need to register with the B.C. government to obtain a certificate of registration before they can hire temporary foreign workers.

The requirement to register will apply to all employers hiring foreign workers through the Temporary Foreign Worker program (Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)), Home Child-Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot. It is recommended that employers with a pending LMIA application in process also register. Employers who have already had their LMIA application approved do not need to register.

Registration is free and takes around 15 minutes to complete. The requirement is anticipated to come into effect in mid-December, however registration is already open now.
