Eligible Skilled workers can now apply under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) with as little as 12 months of full time Canadian skilled work experience. Previously applicants required two years of full time Canadian work experience. This news release from Citizenship and Immigration Canada is in line with their push to support skilled worker immigration to Canada which is aimed, in part, at addressing the shortfall of skilled workers in Canada.
The CEC program was launched in 2008 and since that time over 20,000 of the brightest international students and skilled workers have been processed through the program. For 2013 Citizenship and Immigration Canada will accept up to 10,000 applicants to the program.
