Pilot program in the agriculture and food sector

Canada is launching a new pilot program aiming at attracting and retaining skilled labour in the agri-food sector, especially in meat processing and mushroom production. Temporary foreign workers will be able to apply for permanent residence if they have more than 12 months of Canadian work experience in certain occupations as of 2020. Employers in the agri-food sector who intend to be part of the pilot will be eligible for a 2-year Labour Market Impact Assessment.
